An update on the 2008 Football Parking Passes
The TCU Frog Club mailed out all remaining parking passes over two weeks ago. Please be on the lookout for a shiny silver "Spirit Pack" with a purple ribbon tape around it in your mailboxes. Inside you will find your 2008 TCU Football parking pass along with some TCU goodies. Be sure to pull out and look at everything because your parking pass is located at the very bottom!


Gary Patterson Luncheon Series

2008 LETTERMEN'S ASSOCIATION HALL
OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY


Four former standout student-athletes along with the school's first national championship team will comprise the 2008 TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame Class.

On the 40th Anniversary of the TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame – Becky Brill (women's swimming and diving), Beverly McDonald (women's track and field), WC Nix III (football), Dr. John A. Richards (football) along with the 1938 TCU National Championship football team will have their names listed among some of the greatest athletes to ever don the Purple and White in an induction ceremony on October 2nd.

TCU Frog Club Offers Two New Hospitality Packages for Season Ticket Holders

The two packages are offered to those involved in the TCU Frog Club or TCU Men's and Women's Fast Break Clubs

Season tickets holders for the Purple and White who are also members of the TCU Frog Club, TCU Men's Basketball Fast Break Club or TCU Women's Basketball Fast Break Club will have an opportunity to purchase packages that will include pre-game and halftime access to the new Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex and Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center during the 2008-09 basketball campaigns.

The first package offered to TCU Frog Club members - who purchase two basketball season tickets and have a membership at the $1,500 level or higher - will receive access to the Meyer-Martin Athletic Complex for pre-game buffet and halftime beverage service, a season parking pass along with the option to buy a season pass for the pre-game buffet at a 33-percent discount for the entire men's and women's home basketball schedules. Pre-game buffets will also be available on a game-by-game basis for non-season pass holders for $15 per person.

The second package offered to season ticket holders - who have joined the TCU Men's Basketball Fast Break Club at the $500 level or TCU Women's Basketball Fast Break Club at $250 level - will receive access to the Meyer-Martin Complex for halftime snacks and beverage service along with one season parking pass.

The men's and women's basketball programs will each host 14 games at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum during the 2008-09 campaign. The Frogs will welcome Nebraska, Wichita State along with each of their Mountain West Conference rivals while the Lady Frogs play host to Maryland - who claimed the 2006 NCAA National Championship - along with Houston, SMU and their MWC slate.

The deadline to take advantage of the two packages offered by the TCU Frog Club will be November 14th, and season tickets can be purchased by contacting the TCU ticket office at (817) 257-FROG or online at www.GoFrogs.com. Those who wish to confirm their current club membership level or sign-up for one of the hospitality packages should contact the TCU Frog Club at (817) 257-7700.

TCU was unable to slow down No. 2 Oklahoma's big playmakers in the final non-conference battle of the season, as the 23rd-ranked Frogs fell to the Sooners, 35-10. Despite topping the Sooners in time of possession and holding Oklahoma to only 25 yards on the ground, TCU surrendered 436 total yards of offense, in addition to 66 yards on a dozen penalties, and suffered four turnovers. TCU quarterback Andy Dalton went 16-for-39 for 212 passing yards, while also gaining 32 yards on the ground. Tailback Joseph Turner had 54 rushing yards with the Frogs' lone touchdown. Wideout Jimmy Young topped all Frog receivers with a career-high 111 yards on six receptions.

TCU (4-1) returns to Amon G. Carter Stadium to host MWC foe San Diego State on Oct. 4. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m., and the matchup will be televised by CBS College Sports. The Horned Frogs are back in Mountain West Conference action for the first time since a season-opening 26-3 win at New Mexico. A fireworks show, presented by Wells Fargo, will follow the game.

The TCU Horned Frogs moved their record to 13-3 on the season and more importantly 2-1 in league play with a 3-0 sweep of San Diego State. Kourtney Edwards led an efficient attack by the Frogs with 15 kills. Irene Hester also pitched in with 12 kills as the Frogs closed out a five-game road trip with a 3-2 record. The Frogs were firing on all cylinders as they racked up 53 kills in the match and hit at a .355 clip. Katelyn Blackwood and Hester led the defensive charge with nine digs each, while Devon Kirk and Nirelle Hampton keyed the block party with three each. TCU limited San Diego State to 36 kills and a .173 hitting percentage.
  Frogs Rebound with Sweep of Aztecs

TCU (13-3, 2-1 MWC) returns home for two critical conference matches this week. The Frogs will host Utah at 7 p.m. on Thursday night before wrapping up play on Saturday afternoon against Top-25 ranked BYU beginning at 1 p.m. Admission to Saturday's match is free and the Frogs will be handing out free hand-held FM radios to any fans with a football ticket.

Lizzy Karoly and Jackie Torda netted first half goals to lead TCU to a 2-1 victory over Texas-San Antonio Sunday afternoon. Overall, TCU outshot the UTSA, 31-13, including 20-5 in the first half. On offense, TCU was led by Torda who fired seven shots and netted one goal, while Karoly posted five shots and one goal. The Horned Frogs have now outshot their opponent, 88-14, in their last two matches. On defense, Walters held UTSA to only three shots on goal, stopping two balls, while Joergensen recorded 10 saves on the day. The Horned Frogs moved to 8-1-1 on the year and have now won two-straight going into conference action. UTSA dropped to 3-7-0 on the year.
  Horned Frogs upend Roadrunners, 2-1

TCU outshot Arkansas-Pine Bluff 57-1 on Friday night, downing the Lady Lions, 6-0, at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Jordan Calhoun put TCU on the board early in the match, finding the back of the net off assists from Lizzy Karoly and Caroline Starns. In the 13th minute, Michelle Nguyen increased the Horned Frog lead off an assist by Karoly. Nguyen torched the Lady Lions again four minutes later, beating UAPB goalkeeper Bre-Ann Laypoole off a corner kick by Calhoun. Karoly got into the act in the 24th minute, netting her seventh goal of the season off a pass from Chelsea Cody. Finally, Kaylie Garcia found the back of the net midway through the half, dropping the ball past Laypoole off an assist from Calhoun. Chelsey Wilgenburg put the finishing touches on a dominating night, scoring her first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute off a corner kick by Teryn Kaldheim. Overall, TCU played a total of 24 players Friday night, including all three goalkeepers.

Lizzy Karoly was honored on Monday as the MWC Offensive Athlete of the Week. Karoly posted a total of six points over the weekend en route to wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas-San Antonio.

The TCU men's basketball program will celebrate the beginning of the 2008-09 campaign with a tip-off banquet on October 12th at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni Center with special guest former TCU standout and current University of Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon. The TCU men's basketball tip-off banquet will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni Center followed by speaking arrangements by Dixon as well as head coach Jim Christian. In the final day of prequalifying, Macall Harkins played well on her home state turf to advance to qualifying singles at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Harkins topped Kentucky's Carolina Escamilla, 7-6 (2), 6-2. The win is Harkins third in the last two days and will advance her into the qualifying singles bracket, joining fellow Frog teammate Nina Munch-Soegaard.

The TCU women's tennis team began the Riviera/ITA All- American Championships with the first day of pre-qualifying. The day was highlighted with a doubles win over Florida and two singles victories from Macall Harkins.

Zach Nichols of the TCU men's tennis team advanced to the consolation final of the men's "A" singles draw during the final day of the Baylor HEB Invitational. Nichols won his fourth consecutive match Sunday morning in the semifinal round over Anton Bobytskyi (Oklahoma State), 7-5, 6-3, to advance. Later in the day, he faced Texas Tech's Michael Breler in the final, which Breler survived by a close 7-6(4), 6-4 decision. TCU returns to action next with the ITA All-American Tournament, which begins Thursday in Tulsa, Okla.

Zach Nichols of the TCU men's tennis team earned a pair of victories Saturday in the consolation bracket of the top men's singles draw to advance to the final day of competition at the Baylor HEB Invitational. The Frog tandem of Emanu Brighu and Adrian Simon was eliminated from the men's open doubles "A" draw after falling to Fresno State's Rudy Siwy and Mirko Zapletal, 8-2, in a quarterfinal match.

Adrian Simon and Emanu Brighiu advanced to the quarterfinal round of the men's open doubles "A" draw Friday during the opening day of the Baylor/HEB Invitational. The duo posted a pair of victories during the Horned Frogs' season-opening tournament, including a win over the field's top-seeded team from Texas A&M.

The TCU Baseball team released its 2009 schedule Tuesday morning. The 55-game slate features 27 home games, 15 contests against NCAA tournament teams and seven against Super Regional participants. The Frogs will also host the 2009 MWC Postseason Tournament for the second consecutive year.

"Once again, we've tried to put together one of the more competitive schedules in the country to challenge and prepare our team for postseason play and get our fan-base excited about seeing some of the better college programs in the country compete in Lupton Stadium," said Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle.
  Frog Baseball Announces 2009 Schedule

The TCU men's golf team concluded its first round of action tied for second place at the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Monday (Sept. 29) at the Ballymeade Country Club in North Falmouth, Mass. The Frogs recorded an 18-hole tally of 292 - tying with Rhode Island for second place - and eight strokes back of the 284 shot by Baylor. Travis Woolf was the Frogs' top golfer after the first round of action at seventh overall with an 18-hole score of 72

TCU rifle team started the season with a victory against Nevada today at the TCU rifle range. The win over the Wolfpack gives TCU a seven match winning streak. The match was highlighted by Lauren Sullivan's performance in air rifle. She shot a 593 and also claimed a first place finish on the aggregate. TCU shooters claimed seven of the top-10 places in air rifle.

The TCU equestrian team wrapped up play at the Willis Invitational Tournament at Baylor. The Horned Frogs went 1-1 on the day as they beat New Mexico State, 6-5. The Frogs fell to host team Baylor in the third and final round. Against the Aggies, Taylor Frederick scored an 81 to nab MVP honors in equitation over fences. The Horned Frogs again showed their strength in the western division as they won both events versus New Mexico State. Carrie von Uhlit earned a point and the MVP title for reining.
